The weather on the first tour of the Sunshine Coast can only be described as idyllic. No where in the world could offer the conditions that everyone enjoyed over the days of the tour. The temperature was 22 - 23 degrees every day with no wind provided just perfect conditions to play golf.
Jeff Cutler from Tallwoods (Hcp 9) took a 3 shot lead after the first round, but seemed to lose his swing after that allowing Rod Ledgar, Jack Tuckfield and Warren Hughes to go into the 5th round tied for the lead.
But the 5th round at Twin Waters was where Warren Hughes from Yamba (Hcp 17) played some terrific golf returning 43 points to clear out and eventually win the Mens Event by 13 shots from Allen Wilson - New South Wales Golf CLub (Hcp 21) despite his 2 final rounds of 36 points at Twin Waters and Palmer Coolum.
The Ladies Section saw Maree Osburne from Russell Vale (Hcp 34-38) defend her title from last year. Maree took the lead after 3 rounds and she continued to play consistently for 5 rounds. Unfortunately the Palmer Coolum did not suit her game and despite returning her worse score for the tour it was enough to win by 1 shot over the strong finishing Ros Wynn (25-28) The Grange NSW
Congratulations to everyone who participated - for getting away from Winter to come to this wonderful destination. Make sure you get yiour name down for next year's Sunshine Coast Tour.
