South Australia - November 2013

Two years ago we encountered the hottest November day in Adelaide ever. Fortunately, this year the temperatures were a bit cooler - only the golf got hotter ! Starting in the Victor Harbor area, we played at Mc Cracken Country Club where we enjoyed the company of three of their local members - namely Barry Calaby, Julie and Ivan Short. The hospitality extended by the southerners always makes us feel welcome.

The Mens competition was hotly contested with only 5 shots between the 1st and 6th place going into the final round. Despite putting woes during the tour, Phil Constable (Hcp 8 at Northern) returned a strong 35 points on the final day - 4 points clear of Jack Tuckfield (31 Points) and Alan Balderston (31 points). It was enough to beat those gentlemen and take out the Mens South Australian Tour by 2 shots - a great effort by the single marker.

The Ladies section was decided after the first 3 rounds as Barbara Kelly (Hcp 20 - NSW) shot clear of the field with scores of 36, 39 and 37 points. Barbara seems to like the South Australian courses having won the Tour in 2005 and 2009. Whilst Beverley Ellis (Hcp 24 - NSW) finished strongly over the final 4 rounds, Barbara was still able to take out the Ladies South Australian Tour by 5 shots and win for the 3rd time.
