Hawaiian Islands - Great Finishes - June 2013

After coping with unseasonal strong trade winds experienced on the island of Maui at Kapalua and King Kamehameha, the last three rounds provided the expected beautiful conditions always enjoyed in Kihei at the three magnificent Wailea courses.
Both our Men and Lady senior players took advantage to score some impressive rounds and press home their respective advantages.

In the mens section Bill Eccles (Mackay Golf Club - Hcp 19) seemed to enjoy the Hawaiian courses and took an early lead after the 3rd round. Despite the tough Prince Course and the two windy days at Kapalua Plantation and King Kamehameha, Bill still held a two shot lead over Max Lewis (Coolangatta / Tweed - Hcp 27). With a final round of 47 points at Waliea Gold, Bill had a very comfortable win over Allen Wilson (N.S.W. - Hcp 19) who seemed to find his swing over the last 5 rounds and finished very strongly.

Helen Vanderfield (Concord Golf Club - Hcp 23) dominated the Ladies after winning the first day at the Jack Nicklaus Kauai Lagoons. With final rounds of 41, 41 and 37 points Helen finished 5 shots clear and held out Margaret White (Concord Golf Club - Hcp 25) a former winner in Hawaii. Margaret also seemed to find her swing on the last 5 rounds and finished extremely well.
