Tour 1 - South Island, New Zealand - Golfing in the Mountains

Despite winning 3 daily events - it was not enough for Alan Wilson from NSW Golf Club (Hcp 16-18) to take out the the first New Zealand South Island Tour. Tough conditions were experienced on 2 out of the 5 days which resulted in low scores. The conditions seemed to suit Greg Smart from Wollongong (Hcp 28-30) who was a model of consistency over the first 4 rounds which proved enough to win by 4 shots.

Lynette Smart from Wollongong (Hcp 23-25) made it a family occasion by also winning the Ladies section of the tour by 3 shots ahead of Gay Revie from Bonnie Doon Golf Club (Hcp 21-24)

Playing in the mountains can be unpredictable sometimes and the wind front that prevailed on our group caused a "Chill Factor" on the course making it that more difficult. However, there was no rain during the week which was fortunate given the conditions. As I write this report the day at Queenstown Golf Club is idyllic !  What a difference a week makes !
