2016 Pebble Beach WinnersAfter getting over the rain ruining our day at Spyglass Hill - the final two days cleared along the Monterey coast to be classic, magnificent golfing weather - with a slight breeze. The anticipation of teeing off the first hole at Pebble Beach brought an added tension when taking your first swing. Some of us enjoyed caddies - but walking from the cart path does provide an annoying burden to an otherwise magnificent experience. The property of the Pebble Beach Resort spans along the magnificent coast affording stunning views from many holes .

Twelve seniors enjoyed our stay at the Lodge - an establishment that exudes class. In the Mens section - Ian Baker (Palm Beach - Hcp 31) got away to a strong start by having the best stableford score of 31 points at Pebble Beach with Alan Balderston (The Lakes - Hcp 19) and Allen Wilson (N.S.W. - Hcp 16) just one shot behind. So on to the Links at Spanish Bay for the final round and despite a credible 34 points from Ian Baker, it was Alan Balderston's 37 points that was the standout - sufficient to get up and win by a single shot.

In the Ladies competition - Carolyn Robinson (The Australian - Hcp 23) carded 35 points at Pebble Beach enough to take a 4 shot lead over Yvonne Murray (Blackheath - Hcp 30). The ladies seem to find the Links at Spanish Bay difficult in the second round with the top score of 30 points returned by both Carolyn Robinson and Ros Wilson (NSW - Hcp 33). Carolyn was never headed and Ros was able to get up and run 2nd overall.
